I briefed my first web designer back in late -95, when for most people 'the web' was still something that gathered in your attic if you didn't clean it every now and then.  I've since developed a number of sites for my own business and other interests, and have over the years become familiar with most web tools and technologies, not to mention eagerly studying everything from web standards to usability to design and and digital photography.

However, crucially I still retain a healthy scepticism for all the 'techie' stuff that the world of web development is sadly riddled with, and which in my humble opinion does little other than to intimidate most website owners and put off newcomers all together.  I'm proud to remain a marketer and a small business owner first and foremost, and even as I get deeper into all things web I will do everything to resist becoming a technology geek!

• I can design and develop your website -- if you don't need a dynamic, database-driven, all bells & whistles site (and to pay for it accordingly - upwards of a couple of thousand Pounds at the minimum), then I can help you put together a straightforward site quickly, easily and inexpensively.  How inexpensive are we talking?  Hard to say precisely until I know what you want, but I'm confident that you'll be pleasantly surprised!  Let's just say that £200 will already get you something you can be proud to show to your customers, friends and Your Better Half.
• I can host your site, or help you get your own hosting -- I have a great hosting system all set up, and I'd be happy to host your site for you; this means that you don't need to worry about anything, don't need to know how to set up hosting or how to administer it, and don't even need to worry about how much it costs as I only charge a very affordable flat fee.  Of course, if you rather handle the hosting yourself, I can help you find a good host, upload the site to your host's servers, and then hand over the keys.  It's entirely up to you which you prefer.
• I can extend your site when required -- if you decide that you want to add modules such as online forms, photo gallery, e-commerce functionality, blogs, etc., I'm on hand to help you make sense of those technologies (and rest assured, I speak plain English, not techie jargon!) and can implement most of those things quickly and cost-effectively.  I can also help you generate the necessary images, from simple graphics to digital photography, to bring your site alive.
• I can set up e-mail to be hosted under your own domain name -- instead of using something generic like myname28@hotmail.com I would recommend the much more professional myname@mydomain.co.uk where it's immediately obvious to everyone that you're a proper business with a proper e-mail and web presence - and as a bonus, your e-mails to customers are far less likely to be treated as 'spam' which like all junk mail usually ends up in the bin un-read.
